BICBILETA ESTACADO, Spain—A billion-dollar family dynasty in Spain is under investigation for a sex scandal that allegedly involved its most famous daughter, the billionaire daughter of the country’s richest man.
A top investigator in the country, which is trying to recover from the collapse of its financial sector, said on Friday that the scandal is so serious that the family has hired an investigator to look into the matter.
The family is under scrutiny for allegedly paying a former client to perform sexual acts on a 15-year-old girl.
It is a scandal that could shake the country and the family could face heavy fines, a Spanish government official said.
A former client of the family, a woman who was 15 at the time, has been arrested and faces possible jail time for allegedly performing the sex act on the girl, according to Spanish media reports.
The news agency Agencia Cristina reported that the woman was paid by the family in exchange for sex, including oral sex.
It did not provide details about the alleged victim, who is not a named person.
Biciclella Estatica (Bia), which owns the Biltmore Estate in Bicicleca, was founded in 1998 by former president José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero.
It has built up a portfolio of luxury apartments in Barcelona and its own luxury hotel in the Mediterranean resort of Castel Gandolfo.
The Bia family has long held a close relationship with Spain’s ruling Socialist Party and has ties to the ruling conservative Popular Party.
The Bia heir, the first daughter of Pablo and Beatriz Zapateros, has a large stake in the estate and has worked to diversify its holdings.
Her sister, Beatriz, was also a director of Biciella Estancia when it was founded.
The first daughter has worked as a consultant for Bicbiella Estacados management company and was a founding director of the Biccea Group.
